This and That

One of the last shots I got Sunday was this immature eagle in one of the trees overlooking the pier.

He must have had lunch up there with him. He was being yelled at by the crows and was remarkably unaffected by their ruckus! No way was he stepping away from the buffet! (I know that feeling!)

Getting ready to get K3 up. We are off to her intake session this morning. She is not looking forward to the process.

Why do some people take something "this big" and turn it into something "that big"?

I really cannot recommend getting a Chihuahua unless you're on board with the "grape sized bladder". Something must be done!

I woke up feeling like someone rammed a railroad spike in my right ear. That's normal, right? That throbbing feeling should go away by lunch time?

I think my computer ate the paperwork I needed for this morning. I left it open and now I don't see it. Crap-sicles.

Can someone take over for me for the next couple hours so I can go back to bed? Thanks!

At the Pier

Last Sunday, on the way back from seeing my step-brother off, TOG and I stopped at the pier. The weather was mild and the sky had a few high clouds.

I set the camera up so I could shoot into the sunny clouds.

It had the added advantage of creating some neat almost-silhouettes!

I love the contrast of the warm sun, blue sky and white clouds!

And yes, I did leave my camera in my office, I did lock my door, and this was why I wanted the darn thing, I hadn't even gotten to see the shots!

What have you forgotten lately?

Wishing you a lovely Wednesday!

Blush

Just looking for my happy space this morning. It's been an exhausting weekend.

K3 continues to improve and now that she's keeping food and pain meds down, we're working on increasing her food and fluid intake, starting her hygieine rinses and getting her back to drinking out of a glass without putting ANY pressure on her lower jaw (due to the bone graft). Until recently, everything was delivered by spoon or syringe. She can't use a straw because of the extractions and that has really made feeding and watering pretty labor intensive. Last night we got her carefully sipping chocolate milk from a cup and we were both relieved!

Off to wash more dishes.... towels... spoons...

Friday's Symphony in Three Parts

Part One:

Happy Birthday K2! 24 years ago, I was the size of a small planet! No time to find and post that picture this morning... but it's all true! You were my largest baby and had tons of dark, dark hair. Over the years, you've been quirky (shoe and sock issues anyone?), sweet, fun, high maintenance and have succeeded in mastering one of the most vibrant tempers I've ever seen. With the graduation from nursing school on the horizon this summer, this is your year! Happy Birthday Bug Lynn!

Part Two:

K3's 3rd surgery is this morning. This will be the removal of all 4 wisdom teeth, the harvesting of bone from the right wisdom teeth sockets and the second bone graft on her front lower jaw to replace the bone she lost following the accident. This is hands down the most painful sugery she is likely to have, with the longest recovery time. We picked up all her meds last night and Madeline is ready for some heavy duty cuddling to speed the healing process. I'm really happy that we are finally getting this step done!

Part Three:

While I have the next few days off to take care of K3, I'll be working on some of my own projects which were derailed at the time of K3's accident. At least that's the plan... we'll see if it fits in with K3's needs. Following her previous surgeries, I found I only had time to keep one of us fed, bathed and medicated and that someone wasn't me! But I've got this process mastered now (ha!) so we'll see. I don't know if I'll be able to fit in blog time, but I'll try!

Have a lovely, lovely Friday!

Inept

Tomorrow, I'm taking K3 down to the waterfront to shoot her Senior Portrait. We'll be here...

(photo blatantly and unapologetically stolen from imom)

Yes, my youngest is technically graduating from high school. The technicality is that they are withholding half a credit so she can go back next year and do career exploration and integration. They can either find her internships or allow her to enroll in vocational training programs at the tech school. All of which is available to her until she turns 21, due to her disability. At that point, she'll lose her eligibility for public school and it's resources and she'll be dependent on TOG and I. Due to recent budget cuts in our state, I don't see her ever being eligible for state disability resources. But this does give her a couple years of services and training to help her find what she wants to do.

So tomorrow, we'll cover up the pink of her newly waxed eyebrows, doll her up (K2 and I) and hopefully get some beautiful shots for her announcements. I wish I was more proficient with the camera, but considering the beautiful scenery, and the special occasion, maybe I can make up for my ineptitude with the camera and get a "lucky shot"!

And I guess I can always compensate for my poor photography with my weak Photoshop skillz. Poor kid!
