Holiday Greetings

The Brute Squad has completed their holiday preparations.

The tree has been inspected for squirrels...

The presents have been sorted by smell... those that may contain puppy biscuits are closer to the front.

And now the holiday portrait has been taken!

From the entire Brute Squad.... a Happy Holidays, no matter how you celebrate!

Getting Ready

This morning is staff meeting day, so I'm out of here soon.

Yesterday was a tough day with the break in and burglury at work. We lost over $3000 worth of landscaping equipment including adaptive equipment. Its hard for me to think of the crews and how they'll work with fewer tools, but it's also difficult as the fundraiser to think of writing grants to replace the equipment. And yeah... it makes a dent in my holiday spirit as well. Ugh.

In the meantime, TOG and I have plans for the weekend. We're leaving in the morning to see Roger Watters in Canada tomorrow night. Something about Pink Floyd.... And yes, I will be seeing the lovely Baroness as well.

I might be am far more excited about that than the concert!

What are you excited for this weekend? Help me out... my holiday spirit needs a lift!

I have to tattle on K3... she was selected Student of the Month at her transition program AND she was rated uber cooperative at her volunteer position at the foodbank! And Christmas is right around the corner! Life is good for our little K3!

Slacker

This is last year.

This year... nothing yet.

No tree...

No holiday decor....

No presents wrapped...

I haven't baked a single holiday cookie...

I better get busy or Santa is going to cross me off his list!

I've now tuned my car radio to 24/7 holiday music.

I think it's helping!

Are any of you feeling festive yet?

AG out!

PS ~ Happy Hanukkah!!!

Halloween has gone to the dogs!

Maddie: Crap! It's not Halloween again, is it?

Fiona: I'm afraid so. Didn't you see her digging out the costumes last night?

Cassie: How is that different from any other day she dresses us up?

Maddie: Do you have to ask?

Fiona: Wait until the holidays when she breaks out the big costumes...

All: Is this what they mean when they say it's a dog's life?

Fiona, Maddie and Cassie out!

Year End Closure and Disclosure

K3 is doing well this morning. As predicted, the Brute Squad is all over her. Yesterday, even Bad Girl the cat wanted to get in on the cuddling. Yesterday's surgery was just upper implants. The original bone graft is not ready for additional work, which means we're waiting 4 more weeks before pulling the wisdom teeth and doing the next bone graft. So this was really an easy surgery compared to what we were anticipating.

Two more things before I close out this year...

Number one...

There was much discussion about what the Brute Squad was looking at/thinking in this photo. There was even an accusation of dangling bacon (mmm.... bacon!). I've decided to reveal the truth...

They were looking at Ben!

Secondly, I want to express my thanks to a lovely and talented group of ladies that have made a difference in my life this year.... The Blisters. Y'all have made me laugh uncontrollably, write songs I didn't know I had in me, well up when I least expected it and been there for me when I most needed it. I feel very fortunate to have had my life so enriched by meeting y'all this year!

On that note...

Best wishes to all my friends and family... wishing you a wonderful new year from the Asthmagirl family to yours!

AG out!

PS ~ Ben and his family send their best as well...

In the mood...

Picture stolen from these folks

I'm in the mood.

Typically this time of year involves me reluctantly agreeing that the holidays are upon us and trying to summon the enthusiasm required to make it fun for all.

This year... I'm ready! I've already located my turkey bucket out in the garage! I'm looking forward to making dinner... online shopping... cookie baking... the works!

I'm not sure why... it could be because the last few months have been icky healthwise. Or maybe because after the event last week even the holidays seem easy! Or it might be because it's Ben's first holiday season. It might even be because I get to feast on the eye candy that is Food Networks holiday cooking shows!

Whatever the reason, I'm ready!

Are you?
