Trial and Error

It being dark by the time I finished making dinner and cleaning up the kitchen, I turned to my favorite camera subjects... the Brute Squad. I don't know how they ever made Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Getting them all to sit still and look at the camera is beyond me. And even if I do...

Still, 20 minutes of wrangling Chihuahuas and playing with my camera... very theraputic!

Wide Open Wednesday

Top Five List - What I've learned in the last week...

1. I've spent an insane amount of money on the innards of these two girls. But they're worth it.

2. Loss of technology is the great equalizer.

3. People show their true colors when the server is down for 36 hours.

4. Passive aggressive behaviors are inappropriate in the workplace.

5. People who give the starving tech person (who can't leave for lunch) half their "sammie" are saints!

With the crisises resolved... I would now like to spend some quality time with my camera which I haven't touched for a week.

A difficult weekend

An initially recovering "Dopey" took a turn for the worse resulting in a 2am emergency vet run on Sunday morning.

All seems well now, but challenges remain in getting her to eat, drink and take her meds. To give her credit, I'd be reluctant to take on nourishment if I'd had a similar experience... particularly 2 days after I'd had my innards worked on...

Just to end on a high note... I have clean clothes this morning. And I got more than three hours sleep!

KMOM: Excuse me... Madeline? KMOM here with a few questions for you... Can we talk about the job you're doing? This looks very intense!

Madeline: *stretch* Fine, but if you wake her up, the entire Brute Squad will be very displeased. We're stretched pretty thin here...

KMOM: What kind of work are you doing? Is it difficult?

Madeline: Look, this is very challenging stuff. Every time they bring her home from the surgery, our job is to apply Puppy Presence until she recovers fully. This requires a soft coat, the ability to throw off heat and lots of dedication. Sometimes more than one squad member will be on duty when she feels particularly bad.

KMOM: That is amazing!

Cassie: Tell me about it... I've been pulling an all-nighter.

KMOM: Oh really?

Madeline: Please. She's not qualified to comment. We've got her on the lower extremities as a back up. The serious work is being done up here.

KMOM: Well this is just amazing. Do you ever get a break?

Madeline: Only when her medications are being given. Otherwise, we are on the job 24/7. Now... if you don't mind...

KMOM: Not at all. Thanks for taking the time to talk with us Madeline!

Madeline: Next time please call ahead. We really need to eliminate these interruptions if we're going to have the maximum impact.

KMOM: *whispering* This is KMOM signing off from the bedside of K3. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow!

Flying Chihuahuas

Whimsical... I know! But I was delighted when I saw the headline on MSN that that announced "Chihuahuas Flying East!"

As it turns out, the story was about the over-abundance of Chihuahuas in California shelters and how they were being flown east to be adopted in New York and other east coast states.

While I'm so grateful that the little dogs will find homes, I'm really saddened that they were part of a "trend" that when no longer loved were simply discarded into shelters. I have a huge fondness for animals in general and dogs in particular. I just cannot imagine how hard that is on their psyches...

Perhaps because its so close to the holidays, I was really charmed by the thought of flying Chihuahuas. So I looked for wings for my sweet Maddie.

Thank goodness for Photoshop!

Meet The Guardians... protectors of the helpless...ever watchful of evil doers... Ready to take on all comers in defense of K3.

"Don't even think about giving her anymore of that nasty antibiotic!"

"That's not more ointment, is it? Step away with the ointment..."

"We would like more soup... and maybe some of that ice cream. And bring a puppy biscuit too."

"Don't mess with me, lady. I'll take you down."

K3 is not short of protectors. And those tiny ones are the fiercest!
