Yesterday, The Old Goat and I were off to the coast of Washington to take care of some business. Afterward, TOG turned the car toward Ocean Shores.
It was one of those dreamy beach days that you dare to hope for... clear and sunny, abnormally warm and almost windless. The fact that it occurred the last day in February made it all the more rare and precious.
There's something so lovely and basic about the sound of the sea and the roll of the waves. TOG and I strolled down the beach, holding hands, reminiscing about our times at the beach early in our marriage. Before children and when our kids were young, we spent many happy days at the beaches in Oregon getting wet and sandy and eating seafood.
Yesterday we stopped at a place on the beach for a late lunch. We toyed with ordering seafood salads but came to our senses and ate enormous servings of Halibut fish and chips. Back out on the beach, the breeze had come up in the late afternoon and there were numerous kites dotting the sky. Comfortable in light jackets, we continued our walk, until pink cheeked and tired we headed home to see our girls.
As if we were plugged into a wall socket, today we are both feeling refreshed and recharged!
(If only I'd brought my camera)
