A day in the life...

While we had plans to hike yesterday, I hadn't counted on the impact of the cows on our lives. Did I mention that they're fully recovered from their adventure in getting here? No? They're fully recovered and completely unpredictable. Food seems to be one of their areas of "no guts, no glory!" I swear, they've got no self control whatsoever...

Saturday night they'd gotten into TOG's icecream...

Bessie definitely ate too much and was complaining to Madeline about her stomach early in the evening. However it didn't stop her. When I went in the kitchen to get the coffee preset for Sunday morning, I found this...

The cows had been tunneling through the butter. Butter on top of ice cream totally did Bessie in, and while we agreed we wait until in the morning to decide, it was going to be touch and go that the cows would be able to hike Sunday...

But I was optimistic... I came downstairs and did my post about hiking and then went in the kitchen for coffee.... only to find...

Yes... Fred got the lid off the biscotti jar and was eating his way through the middle, wrappers and all. With Bessie still bloated, it was obvious there would be no hike today. TOG was actually somewhat relieved, because he didn't want to end up having to carry the cows up and down the trail. Besides, while the Katwalk will still be there next year, Fred and Bessie will be off on their visits and we should enjoy them while we have them.

In the meantime, to their credit, the cowz have gone out of their way to make peace with Cassie. As much as she didn't want to speak Cow-wa-wa, they've made a point of seeking her out, and it looks as if their efforts have paid off!

All in all, it was a quiet Sunday!
