Comedy on the road

When I bought my last car, it came with dysfunctional folks that don't know how to fill out paperwork XM radio. At first I was all over the dial... 180 stations of everything from NASCAR to Jazz to Women's Chat to music from the 40's to Weather/Traffic for your city every 20 seconds. It's a lot to sort through. After I'd had the car for a couple momths and survived the ordeal of changing the free 30 day trial to an actual account in my own name...I found out where to plug my cellphone in nirvana. XM has cupcakes cookies comedy channels. One completely unsensored, one clean and one Canadian. I don't know why Canadians don't fit in the other two options, It may have something to with the fact that they are loony have loonies. [I think you guys have great money, just for the record]

I do wonder sometimes what people think as they see driving down the freeway laughing my butt off. I'm definitely not the stressed out jerk bozo commuter that other drivers might be! Having XM comedy did prompt me to go see a few folks in person. I've compiled a little list with a handy rating guide....

  • Brian Regan - 4.5 inhalers
  • Lisa Lampinelli - 1.5 inhalers
  • Lewis Black - 4 inhalers
  • Frank Caliendo - 4.5 inhalers

Brian and Frank made my sides hurt and yes, I had to use the inhaler to get through the show. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath. Lewis is a little more topical satire, which I enjoy....but it doesn't make my sides hurt. Lisa is billed as the queen of mean and she's like a softer, gentler, racist Don Rickles. Her show is based on naughty. TOG thinks she's funny... she's not my cup of tea. Our next show is Kathleen Madigan, who I think is a hoot. I'd also like to see:

  • Jim Gaffigan
  • Bob Marley
  • Jake Johanson
  • Mike Birbiglia
  • Mitch Fatel
  • Ron White
  • Doug Stanhope
  • Bill Engvall

Who makes you laugh?
